[sarcasm on] I love it when an episode of Lost answers something, but introduces about ten more questions that need to be answered. [/sarcasm off]

What’s In The Box?
Was it me, or was anyone else’s sound messed-up during tonight’s episode of Lost? During the first half of the episode, there was this weird echo (not an Eko) every few seconds. It sounded pretty neat with the soundtrack and music bits, but for the voices, it was really annoying. It was even happening during the commercials, and just on the ABC station. So I’m guessing it was my lousy local ABC affiliate, which wouldn’t surprise me, because they mess things up on a regular basis.
On to the episode!

Don’t Whizz on the Electric Fence
When I was in high school, my father had two dogs. To keep them in the yard, we got one of those invisible fence things. A neigobor wanted to get one for his dogs, but was curious as to how powerful it was. So after talking with my father, he took one of the dog’s collars, held the metal part in his hand and walked “through” the fence. He jumped, shouted, and said it was a big mistake.
With that in mind, I really don’t blame Locke for what he did tonight.
The flame goes up in smoke

Big Mister Sunshine
Last week’s episode of Lost revealed some shocking truths. After hearing that this week would be about Hurley, I was hoping that it would reveal why Hugo’s nickname is ‘Hurley.’ That’s actually something I care about finding out more than how Jack got his tatoos.

Regaining Momentum
Anyone remember that show about a bunch of people stranded on an island and there were all these weird things going on, like a hatch and a smoke monster and some crazy cultist rednecks trying to kill them?
Well, I hope so, because Lost is back.
And I’m glad. While I like the prospect of the 16 (or however many) back-to-back episodes, this break was a killer. Maybe next year they should take the 24 route and just start the season in January.
Day-glo maps and the doors of mystery
I don’t know if it’s just me, but the last few weeks of TV (in my world, that’s Lost and 24) haven’t been too good. But this week, it’s a different story.

Trading Places
In an e-mail exchange earlier today, I was talking with my associate Don about 24 and Lost (some spoilers for both shows may follow)

Just a junkie with a monkey
A very dramatic episode of Lost that didn’t do much for me.
